The InnoWerk

Being creative, rethinking established approaches and implementing them digitally — InnoWerk is the right venue for just that. As an innovation unit of the Bundesbank, we offer new models of collaboration and promote interdisciplinary exchange.

Innovation activities: Our portfolio ranges from idea generation and conceptualization to exploration and subsequent prototyping through consultation and supporting services.

We work with the entire spectrum of new technologies and evaluate their potential in various fields of application — in the national ecosystem and in international innovation collaboration.

Selected partners and projects

German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH (DFKI): The research collaboration with DFKI aims at gaining a better overview of the risks associated with outsourcing to third parties. Cyber incidents can pose a risk to financial stability due to concentration risks.; The development of a cyber map based on knowledge graphs helps to identify more quickly which parties would be affected by a potential cyber risk scenario.
GovTech Campus Deutschland e.V.: This supporting membership aims to build and transfer knowledge in the field of GovTech to relevant departments within the bank. In addition, we want to establish BBk as an active stakeholder in the GovTech ecosystem and accelerate our own digitalization journey through program and project work on campus.
TechQuartier: TechQuartier bridges the gap between established companies and organizations and the start-up scene. Through its collaboration with TechQuartier, InnoWerk has access to this innovative ecosystem in the Frankfurt financial center and can thus facilitate targeted contacts and collaboration opportunities within Bundesbank.
OKR Forum: The OKR Forum is an initiative of the German Armed Forces Cyber Innovation Hub (CIHBw) in collaboration with Agora Digital Transformation. Both organizations are pioneers and consultants for the implementation of the Objectives & Key Results (OKR) method in the public sector. As part of the method's introduction at Bundesbank, InnoWerk’s involvement in the forum aims to directly incorporate learning experiences from the ecosystem and facilitate collaborative knowledge sharing.

BIS Innovation Hub

Together with Banque de France, we operate the Eurosystem Centre of the BIS Innovation Hub in Frankfurt am Main and Paris. InnoWerk provides innovative premises and exchange formats for international collaborative projects.
